On the 16th of March the club chair, Janet Moore, wrote to members informing them that the club would be closed until further notice from the 18th March. A copy of this email was placed on the website news items. On the 20th March, the Govt ordered the total lockdown which included Sports Clubs. The Club is legally obliged to remain closed until the Govt agrees that sports clubs can reopen. There is a waiver in place to allow the green-keeping team to tend to the green.

The Govt shutdown is likely to be lifted in stages, when a date for a lifting of the closure of sports clubs is announced the Executive will convene to consider when our club can reopen. This decision will be informed by advice from our governing bodies- Bowls England and the Somerset Bowls Association.

Bowls England is constantly reviewing this and is considering mechanisms to allow what it calls "controlled casual roll-ups". One of the key factors to be considered by our Executive and Bowls England is the demographics of bowls clubs, which puts the majority of members in a higher risk category.

Further updates will be available via this website, with significant updates also emailed to members.
